F A Q // frequently asked questions

HOW DO I TRACK MY KMs?

You can track your KMs using a Fitbit, Applewatch or your cell phone. There are a number of free tracking apps you can download. Here are some of them.

HOW DO I share MY progress & KMs with my donors?

Is fundraising mandatory?

Using whatever tracking app you've selected, you can take screen shots and upload them to your fundraising page. You can also share them on social media.

We've also created a Facebook Page, where you can share your progress and cheer on other participants.

We would like all our participants to give it a shot! We're suggesting each participant to set a goal of raising $250.

How do I get started fundraising?

It's as easy as telling your family, friends, neighbours, and anyone who'll listen why you're doing the Challenge so they can cheer you on and help fundraise. You can share your fundraising page link on any of your preferred social media channels, and send out an email. We have an email template you can use below as well as downloadable social assets. They'll make your posts come alive, helping you raise even more funds for epilepsy research to find a cure.

What happens if I don't reach my fundraising goal?

If you don't reach your goal, no problem. If you exceed it, even better!

What happens if I don't reach my 100km FITNESS goal?

You are only accountable to yourself in this challenge - and your donors. So technically, nothing will happen if you don't reach your goal. However, we believe honesty is the best policy. It may be nice to send a thank you email to your donors letting them know what you were able to accomplish. And regardless of whether or not you made it to 100km, donations were not made in vain. Your efforts, no matter how many KMs you were able to achieve, are incredible in the fight to find a cure for epilepsy!

What are the donations for?

Monies raised will go to research funding to find a cure for epilepsy. All donations will go directly to Epilepsy Canada.
Epilepsy Canada is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to positively affecting the lives of those living with epilepsy. Its main mandate is to raise monies for epilepsy research with an objective of finding a cure. It demonstrates the need for research by highlighting key issues related to those whose seizures cannot be controlled through existing medication and treatments and the tragic cases of SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death from Epilepsy). Through its active financial support of epilepsy research, it strives to help the Canadian neurology community find a cure for epilepsy.

Subject: I’m Taking the 100KM CHALLLENGE

Hi [First Name],

I am excited to announce that I am supporting Epilepsy Canada during their 1IN100 campaign by taking on the 100KM CHALLENGE in October.

Did you know that over 360,000 Canadians live with epilepsy and the constant threat of seizures?

That's about 1 in 100 people!

The 1IN100 is a month-long CHALLENGE where I will attempt to [walk/run/cycle/wheel] 100kms within the month of October. My fundraising will help Epilepsy Canada raise money for critical research to improve treatments and find the cures!
